Where are you originally from?
The sort answer: Oakland baby!
The long answer: I was born in San Francisco, a year and a half later, my mom moved us to Kailua (where she’s from) and we lived with my grandparents for about a year or so.
We eventually moved to Oakland, and would spend every summer in Hawaii. Once I graduated high school, we finally moved back to Oahu for good! That was 20 years ago.
What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?
Currently it feels like I’m a full-time mom, a part-time massage therapist, and a part-time hula instructor.
What are three fun facts about you?
When I was seven years old I got to dress up as “Lil Miss Fruit Punch” and ride on top of a pride parade float with Wendy the Snapple Lady and a bunch of other drag queens. It was so much fun!
As a high school freshman I was named “Best Dancer” in the yearbook.
I’m still good friends with my best friend from kindergarten.
What is one of your proudest moments as a mom so far?
I’m not too sure about a particular moment… in general I’m proud of the fact that I am raising a very sweet, kind, fun, smart, funny, sensitive, strong, powerful, expressive, loving, well adjusted, and beautiful young woman. She will undoubtedly contribute to the earth and society in the most beneficial ways; I can already tell.

My favorite thing about FIT4MOM is the super supportive, genuine, kindhearted community.
What would you say to a mom that is on the fence about joining FIT4MOM?
Just try it! I love going to FIT4MOM classes and activities because it gets my family out of the house and socializing. It’s a wonderful way to realize or remember that you’re not alone and that everything you’re experiencing as a mom is normal. Plus, if you’re in need of some real advice or just long to talk to someone other than your miniature, co-dependent, and underdeveloped human(s), get yourself out of the house and come to FIT4MOM!
Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village?
It completely takes a village to raise a child! You can’t possibly do everything needed of you as a parent, by yourself, and remain sane. When a woman becomes a mom, she goes through perhaps the biggest transformation of her entire life, and while she focuses on her baby, she too needs to be babied a bit, cared for in a similar fashion. The way I see it, being a parent is simultaneously the most rewarding and most challenging experience; one must have their village to support the family.
What is your favorite beverage?
Green tea or genmaicha with a squeeze of lemon and honey.
What is your favorite thing to eat?
Hash browns!
You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?
First I’d take a nice long nap and then wake up slowly, while enjoying a warm cup of tea and catching up on my favorite podcast. Then I’d go get a massage, and finish with a dip in the ocean and relaxing on the beach.
What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?
It would have to be a long tour through Europe. Visiting places like Greece, Italy, Spain, France, and England.
