Happy Planksgiving! Giving Thanks for Strong Moms, Strong Cores & an Even Stronger Community

It's officially November and you know what that means....

Pumpkin Spice everything. Holiday chaos. Family gatherings. A suspicious number of school events. And the annual question of how we're supposed to get everything done before Thanksgiving.

But here at FIT4MOM Honolulu, we're celebrating a little differently. Welcome to PLANKSGIVING!

A season of gratitude, strength, and remembering that even when life gets a little wobbly, we're stronger when we support each other.

What Is Planksgiving?

Think Thanksgiving, but with a FIT4MOM workout twist.

Planksgiving is our playful reminder to celebrate everything our bodies can do, practice gratitude for the season we're in, and make time for movement during one of the busiest times of the year.

It's not about burning off Thanksgiving dinner. It's not about earning an extra slice of pie. And it's definitely not about seeing who can hold a plank the longest.

Whether you're pregnant, postpartum, or years into your motherhood journey, there's something worth celebrating about choosing to move your body. Even if your plank lasts approximately seven seconds.

Planksgiving is about showing up, getting stronger, and being grateful for the bodies and community that carry us through motherhood.

We're Thankful for Bodies That Do Incredible Things

Motherhood changes our bodies. Sometimes in ways we expected. Often in ways we didn't. Our bodies grow babies, recover from birth, carry toddlers, push strollers, lift car seats, and somehow manage to function after a night of interrupted sleep. And yet, it's easy to spend more time criticizing our bodies than appreciating them.

This Planksgiving, we're flipping that script. Instead of focusing on what your body looks like, consider what it allows you to do.

Maybe you're rebuilding your strength after having a baby.

Maybe you're working toward your first full push-up.

Maybe you can finally carry your toddler up the stairs without getting winded.

Or maybe you're simply proud that you made it to class after a particularly challenging morning.

Every one of those things deserves recognition.

At FIT4MOM Honolulu, we believe fitness should help you feel strong, capable, and confident in the body you have today.

Your body doesn't need to be perfect to be worthy of appreciation.

We're Thankful for Strong Cores (And Not Just Six-Packs)

Let's talk about the star of Planksgiving: the plank.

Planks may look simple, but they're a fantastic way to practice core stability, build strength, and improve body awareness when performed with appropriate technique. And for moms, core strength is about so much more than having visible abs.

Your core helps support you through everyday movements like lifting your little one, carrying groceries, pushing a stroller, and getting up and down from the floor approximately 100 times a day. But here's the important part: A stronger core doesn't necessarily mean holding the longest plank.

It means learning how to engage your muscles, breathe effectively, and build strength in ways that support your body.

For pregnant and postpartum moms, that may mean modifying exercises, adjusting positions, or choosing a completely different core movement based on individual needs.

A wall plank, an elevated plank, or another appropriate core exercise can be just as meaningful as a traditional floor plank.

There's no one-size-fits-all version of strength.

We're Thankful for the Moms Who Hold Us Up

You know what's better than a strong core? A strong support system.

While planks might test our physical strength, motherhood has a way of testing just about everything else. Our patience. Our confidence. Our energy. Our ability to remember why we walked into a room. And that's where having a village makes all the difference.

At FIT4MOM Honolulu, we see it every day.

The mom who cheers on another mom during the final round of exercises. The friend who notices when someone hasn't been at class. The woman who introduces herself to a first-timer and makes her feel like she belongs. The moms who stay after class because the conversations are just too good to end. These moments might seem small, but they're what make our community special.

We may come together to move our bodies, but we build friendships that extend far beyond the workout.

When motherhood gets heavy, it's good to have people who help you carry the load.
